Thoughts on a Thursday

1. I feel like the most important parenting decision I will ever make will be choosing when to first introduce my mini-me’s to the magic (pun intended) that is Harry Potter.

2. I feel like the answer to that question is pre-conception, no?

3. They just opened up one of my fave sandwich shops not a few miles from my apartment and I may or may not have been there a total of six (six!) times in the past two weeks. I used to go there all the time back when I lived in Milwaukee and was sooooo super excited to see it followed me out west. I’m slowly becoming the Norm of Potbelly’s.

4. Speaking of Potbelly’s…I can’t help but relate to the little (or should I say, BIG) guy. I don’t know about you, but I think I just found a replacement for my alarm clock.

5. I am a firm believer in the power of a smile which is why I have decided to go on a secret mission of sorts; think James Bond but with not nearly as many car chases or tuxedos. Everyday this week, I’ve left little notes like this one around my office building, reminding people to spread the love and share a smile. It’s completely free and takes little to no effort, but can really make the difference in a person’s day. You never know how much of an impact a simple smile could bring! Plus, I’d be lying to you if I said it wasn’t fun sneaking around planting secret notes everywhere. Daniel Craig, I’m coming for you.

6. I forgot how fun this whole dating thing can be; the butterflies, the dinners, the laughs and getting-to-know one another. It’s all very exciting! (I also forgot that this means I should probably shave my legs more than once every 2 weeks months. And maybe wear something other than my fancy sweats.)

7. If I was a dinosaur, I’d totally be a brontosaurus. (These are the things I actually think about on a daily basis. I know.)

Have a great Friday-eve, guys!! 🙂

Friday Fav’s

Happy Friday everybody!

After a long week of tutoring jobs (I love my kids, don’t get me wrong but sometimes it can get quite challenging–I guess that’s, in part, why I love doing it so much. Well, that and the fact that seeing the look on their faces and the exuding confidence they have when ‘it’ finally clicks is absolutely priceless!), school registration shtuff and nursing my pup Thunder after he got sick(and when I say sick, I mean he got sick in the kitchen. And the living room. And in the hallway outside my bedroom, the poor thing), I am ready to tackle this weekend full-force! Starting it off right, I have plans tonight to go see the mucho anticipated film adaptation of The Hunger Games. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the books and can’t wait to see how it plays out on the big screen. Plus, I may or may not have a slight crush on Gale aka Liam Hemsworth 😉 You betta watch yo back, Miley!

Before we all head on out to this weekend’s festivities (anyone doing anything fun?), I wanted to share what I found on the web and beyond this week in my Friday Fav’s. Hope you enjoy, guys!

Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.” I couldn’t agree more, Emma!

Thursday Thoughts

  • I woke up today to the sounds of my usually uber quiet-as-a-mouse upstairs neighbor jamming to ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ by Queen. After having sat in my bed for almost an hour, silently singing along to the rest of the Queen Anthology album that was pumping through my ceiling, I realized I could NOT go on without my very own collection of the late band’s amazing tunage. I got up, stretched, grabbed myself a Pop-Tart and went directly to my computer to download Queen’s Greatest hits onto my i-pod. I may or may not have spent a good majority of my day dancing around my apartment, belting out “We are the champions”, “We Will Rock You”, “Somebody to Love”, “Pressure” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” into my hairbrush.

  • I came to the sad realization that it is that time of year to once again become acclimated to the chilly temps of Wisconsin’s fall and winter seasons. The flip-flops and shorts went kicking and screaming into hibernation and out came ready to play…the heavy jackets, scarves and mittens. Alas, I knew it would happen eventually, I just didn’t know I would have to say goodbye so soon. Until next year warm weather, I bid you adue.

  • Milk sometimes just tastes better when drinken straight out of the carton.

  • The guy running on the treadmill next to me earlier this afternoon smelled like a combination of chicken noodle soup and sweaty socks. That was the first strike against him. The second? He stole the remote and was adamant about watching The Maury Povich Show (And…the results of the test came in. You are not the father of your second cousin’s twice removed on your mother’s side’s son. Oy vey…where do they find these people? Seriously.) Third strike? He was wearing a Cubs hat. The soupy-socky smell and the Maury I could handle, but the Cubs? Now that’s where I draw the line buddy.

  • I went to Potbelly’s to grab a sammy for dinner tonight and the man who checked me out (I meant checked my sandwich out. I meant, rang me up. I meant took my order) was named John Johnston. I kid you not.

  • My new obsession? Scented markers. The plus side: They smell delicious. The bad side: I am now branded with red, blue, green and yellow dots on my nose. Don’t judge.

  • I am trying to decide what to go as for Halloween this year. According to an ad on Facebook, I should be a sexy strawberry. Because that is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Halloween costumes. Or strawberries for that matter.

  • You know what they say. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well, if I must…

This totally counts, right?
