My Awesomely Random Life (and Everything in Between)

About Yours Truly

Hey guys!

Welcome to my so-called wonderful (and sometimes crazy) life!

My name is Wendi and I am a twenty-something gal with a zest for life.  My idea of a perfect Friday night often includes curled up on my couch with my dog, some popcorn and the latest Emily Giffin novel. I can literally spend hours upon hours in a bookstore (the more unique and quirky, the better!), and on many occasion, have. One of my favorite things to do in all the world is to visit libraries all over the country and would love to get married either at Miller Park (how cool would that be?!) or at the Chicago Public Library (if you have ever been, you will understand why. It is absolutely gorgeous!) It’s safe to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE books and everything having to do with them. I’m still waiting for the day when I find a job that pays me to read books all day…Random House Book Review team, I’m available fyi 😉

This blog is a chronicle if you will, a collection of all of my random thoughts and Wendi-isms (which there are a ton) on this wonderful, wacky, crazy, funny, questionable, lovely, rollercoaster-of-a-thing we call life. It is also a sounding board of inspiration and hope. I want you to feel free to ask me questions and advice, to vent or just stop by and say hi!

So hop on board, put your hands in the air, and let’s tackle this ride together!

Warning: Reading this blog may have serious side effects including, but not limited to: sudden outbursts of laughing, contagious smiles,  funny stories to share around the office water cooler the next day, and a sudden weakness for ice cream cones.

Just some things to know about me before you go on:

I am THE biggest Milwaukee Brewers fan EVER! Do not even bother talking about, mentioning, bringing up, or displaying any affiliation with the Cubs and/or Yankees…my ear muffs will be on.

I am a bookworm to the nth degree. Nook if I must, there is just something about pouring through a great-page turner (or seven) that has got me hooked (You could say I’m hooked on Nook–okay, okay…reader I am, poet I am not).

I have got the BEST family and friends in the world, hands (and feet) down.

I am an ice cream-aholic. Seriously. I think I may need to check myself in to the Ben & Jerry’s clinic.

I could live in a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. If you are ever in need for fashion advice (or should I say good fashion advice), I would advise you to go elsewhere for your own safety.

My likes: Dogs. Running. Pee-your-pants-funny movies (Adam Sandler and Mike Myers, I am talking to you). My mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup. Road trips. Laughing. Making others laugh. Thunderstorms. Singing in the rain or on a train, in my car or at a bar. Scratch N Sniff Stickers. Anything and everything Seinfeld. Peanut M&M’s. Cookies. Peanut M&M cookies. Hugs. S’mores. Learning. Trying. Doing. Succeeding.

My dislikes: Fish (because really, who would want to eat anything that smells like, well, fish?) Spiders. Tornadoes (deathly, I mean DEATHLY afraid of them). Mean and rude people, in general. Meatloaf (sorry mom, but the only thing that should be in loaf form is  bread). Meatloaf the musician (sorry again, mom).  The word puss. Slow walkers. Slow talkers. Regret.

I guess that’s nut in a me shell.

I mean me in a nut shell 🙂

Feel free to leave me a comment below or email me at I would love to hear what you have to say!

  1. oh wow i have a feeling we would so get along!

  2. i really like your blog 🙂

  3. […] This, That and the Other Thang So so so funny. This blog always puts a smile on my […]

  4. I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. This is my first time participating in a chain letter type award. I hope that you realize that there are a few reasons I am doing this: 1) To thank you for the inspiration you have given me as I learn the blogging ropes 2) To share your talents with my friends, families, and followers. I hope that you will graciously accept this award from a newbie like me!

    • Oh my goodness! Thank you so very much miss Melanie! I am so very honored. I am a huge fan of yours as well and want to let you know that even as a newbie to the blogging world, you have already provided a great sounding board for inspiration and creativity. Keep doing your thang girl because you are very talented 🙂

      • You are welcome and thank you so much!! This is going to sound so cheesy, but it really is a “dream” to be writing and sharing online. So glad we stumbled upon each other!

      • It’s not cheesy at all girl (or if it is, don’t worry. I will SO cheese it up with you lol). I love writing and being a part of a community of others who love to share their lives and thoughts with the world as well and I am so glad we stumbled upon each other too 😉

  5. Puss is a revolting word. I would also have to say that I have a problem with mucous, phlegm, and sputum. OMG…slow talkers and slow walkers are the most annoying people ever. Especially if their slow talk is about puss, mucous, phlegm, or sputum. Well, and you already know that I am a fellow Seinfeld addict. Did I ever tell you that I got to see Jerry live during his most recent tour? Dream come true and made my bucket list one item shorter. And, I must congratulate you on kicking Ed to the curb! I have a friend that is in the process of bidding adieu to her Ed as well. It’s a constant struggle, but I’m sure you will be an inspiration to her.

  6. From one recovering ED-“sufferer”/Brewers fan/ice cream addict/bookworm to another, it’s nice to meet you!

But seriously, here’s another award to add to your growing trophy cabinet: The Liebster Award!

I’m honestly interested to see what you write about next. Keep going!

  11. Hey Wendi, I like your blog alot 🙂 Your sense of humor, as Butthead would probably say, “is awesome.” Btw, I also detest Justin Bieber: The pretty boy with the angelic voice has got to go if there’s any hope for this country. Anyway, hope you pick up lots of followers.

That sounds like a good friday night to me too. Also kudos for you for going back to school.

  13. Hey Wendi!

I just discovered your blog and am loving the humorous spin you put on life’s little adventures! I look forward to reading more.

  14. Hey,

I just nominated your blog for The Liebster Award! You can check out the details of it here and how to take part 🙂

    • Awe thank you so much! You are too sweet 🙂

      • It’s my pleasure 🙂 You’re blog is awesome so I had to include it in my nominations. Hope you’re having a nice weekend.

      • That really means so much! It’s always nice to hear that my little blog that could is making people smile. I hope you are having a fantabulous weekend yourself, girly! 🙂

      • Yep, I’m sure your blog will be doing some good stuff for a lot of other people too! I am having an awesome weekend but I’m not a girly (at least I hope not 😛 )

      • HAHAHA!!! Oh my stars. I am soooo sorry. And soooo embarrassed! I am so used to saying that to my friends that it almost has become the natural, go-to response. I think that it is so great what you are doing and truly believe that a good cuddle, a good hug can do a lot of good. I know that it makes my heart smile for surely. Keep on keeping, MISTER 😉

And best of luck with your book!!

      • Hey, it’s no problem 🙂 And I can see how things like that become second nature (also, a blog about cuddling I would have assumed that it would be a girly too lol). I’m really glad to hear that you think in a similar way about cuddling/hugs. I wasn’t always like that but sure am glad that things changed!

Thank you for wishing me well with my book too. I really appreciate that!

  15. First off, thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the follow. I’m glad because it led me to your blog which is amazing! I’ve actually just decided to go back to school for my Master’s in Library and Information Science. How do you like it?

    • Awe…you are so welcome! And thank you!! You are too sweet! I absolutely LOVED it. I am probably the biggest book nerd you will ever meet so I was in complete heaven. But the thing I found so enjoyable was learning about all the other facets of professional librarianship! What area are you thinking about going into? Public? Academic? Special? If you need any insider tips, I’m your girl 🙂

      • I want to go into public librarianship. I’m still in the early stages, finishing up my application (thank God the school has a rolling deadline) but I will probably take you up on that insider tips offer sometime in the future!

      • That is so great! That’s actually what I got my specialization in. I hope to one day be a Children’s Librarian. And absolutely, girl! I’d love to help in any way I can. Us book nerds need to stick together 😉

  16. […] Finally, Wendi at This, That and the Other Thang. Possibly the sweetest person on the internet (and she wants to be a […]

  17. You are officially the nicest person on the internet and I’m jealous that you might get to be a librarian so I’ve nominated you for the Leibster award. Feel free to ignore it if you like.

Rules etc are on my blog!! love Soph x

  19. Hi Sugar! We LOVE you and we nominated you for a Leibster Award!!! Visit our site for more info!! xoxo

  20. You sound like the sort of girl I’d love to hang out with! I grew up in the Midwest as well. Chicago is my favourite (I live in England now, hence the spelling) big city. I love reading and need to do more of it. A visit to a bookstore is top on my list of things to do in new cities. Michigan was mainly my home but I do not miss those winters. I’m looking forward to following your blog!

    • Aw thanks so much, girl! I actually lived in the UP of Michigan for two years before making my way down to Wisconsin (and then Georgia and finally Colorado haha). Checking out bookstores in new cities is one of my all-time favorite things to do! Can we just be BFFs already?! And can I say that I am super jealous that you now live in England?! I’ve always wanted to visit! *Sigh…one day.
Have a great rest of your Monday, Allison! 🙂

  21. Hello Wendi! I’ve decided to read and follow 10 interesting and new blogs a day every day of May 2015, and yours is today’s #6! Feel free to come visit me when you can at, and follow if you like what you read. Happy new year and happy blogging!
